Cradle of the \u201crebozo\u201d in Mexico, this town is one of the most traditional in the State thanks to the production of these fabrics since the viceroyalty era. In Santa Mar\u00eda del R\u00edo the most famous shawl was born: \u201cel rebozo de bolita\u201d, but there are also other popular designs such as the \u201cbarbilla\u201d, the \u201cpalomo\u201d or the \u201cchalina\u201d, which is of a single color. The artisans make the shawl with the \u201cikat\u201d technique, for dyeing the threads, as well as the backstrap loom. Many of them have even won awards for making the most beautiful \u201crebozo\u201d in the country.
