La Gran Caxcana” was a Mexican territory that included the states of Jalisco, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes. Its first settlers were a congregation of Nahua Indians from San Jos\u00e9 de Huej\u00facar, which means “place of willows”, where the first settlers of Spanish, Creole and mestizo origin settled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1778, Don Jos\u00e9 Calvillo, owner of Hacienda San Nicol\u00e1s, which was part of La Gran Caxcana, donated part of his land so that the settlers could found a village, naming it San Jos\u00e9 del Valle de Huej\u00facar, what we know today as the Magical Town of Calvillo, belonging to the State of Aguascalientes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malpaso Canyon and Dam<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located in the Sierra del Laurel, the Malpaso Canyon is a natural attraction that comprises a series of 50-meter elevations, from where you can contemplate a beautiful landscape. Here you can enjoy boat rides around the dam, sport fishing, horseback riding and mountain biking. Ideal for camping with family and friends, you can also enjoy delicious meat and seafood dishes in its restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Codorniz Dam<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is located only 20 km. from Calvillo. On the way you can visit the towns of La Primavera, La Labor and Piedras Chinas, they offer spa and temazcal services. The dam is the ideal place for people who enjoy fishing. Enjoy its excellent dishes in its restaurant located on the shore of the dam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has facilities for fun on ropes and zip lines, as well as boat rides through the Ci\u00e9nega de Quijas, mountain biking routes through the mountains, rappelling down natural rock walls, interpretive hiking excursions and fishing expeditions. Ci\u00e9nega Los Pinos<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can walk through wonderful landscapes of abundant vegetation among oaks, and pines as it is an excellent place for hiking trails. Among its wildlife you will find animals such as pumas, peacocks and deer. You can enjoy the pools of water and small waterfalls, as well as a wonderful view on the tops of the hills.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n \n\n\n
