Its origins date back to the architectural testimonies left by the Jesuits. Perhaps the old mission of San Miguel Arcángel in Mocorito, finished in 1594, is one of the most interesting in all of Sinaloa.

LA CASA DE LA CULTURA
Located next to the church, it has traditional architecture from the 19th century. Its main attraction is the mural “Mocorito through the centuries,” made by the artist Alonso Enríquez, covering the walls throughout the interior space. The mural is divided into sections: Ancient Mocorito, The Enlightenment, The Modern World, and Mocorito towards 2000.

PLAZA DE LOS TRES GRANDES
Mocorito has given Sinaloa and the country three great heroes: Mrs. Agustina Ramirez, Mr. Eustaquio Buelna, and General Rafael Buelna Tenorio. In appreciation, a town square was built on the grounds of the old public market.

PLAZUELA HIDALGO
The favorite place in every town is the small square. Mocorito’s started its construction in 1900, and it was inaugurated with the name of “Plazuela Hidalgo” on September 16, 1902. Ten carts with human bones were taken from there because, as was the practice of the religious and Spaniards, the burial took place in the atriums of their churches and plots.

ROMANTICISM BY TRADITION
Myths, legends, and fantastic stories are part of the culture of a town. In Mocorito, stories of lost souls, of animals that become men or vice versa, are told from generation to generation. It is not difficult to imagine the truthfulness of these legends walking through the old alleys, where ladies dressed in white walk without touching the ground.

<section id="destinos-relacionados" style="background:url('https://www.travelmexico.travel/wp-content/themes/mexico/assets/img/bg-destinos.png') no-repeat center;
